The new website, which is ecommerce enabled and contains over 70 new features brings Air Miles’ UAE, Qatar and Bahrain websites together under one umbrella.
Flip Media and Air Miles, which is partly owned by the world’s leading loyalty management provider Groupe Aeroplan, have worked together since November 2006, when Flip designed and developed the loyalty programme’s website www.airmilesme.com. Air Miles launched in the UAE in 2001, Qatar in 2002 and Bahrain in 2007, and has since gained a membership of more than 1.2 million people, with its unique coalition offerings, such as being able to book ‘any airline, anytime anywhere.’
Flip’s challenge was to improve Air Miles’ position as a brand that customers want to identify and engage with, using the primary member interface - the website. Through a friendly colour-coded navigation style, available in two themes – blue or gold depending on the user’s tier – Flip has created a quick and simple interface that shows how easy it is to use and explore all facets of the programme.
The new tiered website, which was put together in just 70 days, clearly identifies the value-add for each tier, in each country, and can be extended to include more countries as Air Miles expands. It showcases Air Miles’ partners along with other offers, provides users with geo-coordinates for all the outlets, remembers user details and features automatic security measures.
Several features of the e-commerce platform - allowing users to self-register, activate their account, earn and spend Air Miles, change their password, request an additional card and view their statement - were revamped for improved usability and functionality.

The Air Miles website will soon be available in Arabic and the second phase of the project will see Flip developing further interactive features allowing Air Miles to better serve users’ needs.
The site currently has an average of 36,500 unique visitors per month, who spend on average of eight minutes on the website per visit. In addition, 40 per cent of redemptions are processed online in the UAE, 46 per cent in Qatar and 34 per cent in Bahrain.
