7th May 2006, Dubai (UAE): Flip Media returned home triumphant from Amman, having scooped an amazing tally of 14 awards, including three Golds at the Pan Arab Web Awards.Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, Flip Media’s Creative Director Dinesh Lalvani and Account Director Yousef Tuqan Tuqan were forced to carry their trophies onto the aircraft as carry-on luggage after being told they would have to pay excess baggage if they left the awards in their suitcases. Says Tuqan “We didn’t want to jinx our chances by assuming we’d win so many awards, but we certainly should have packed lighter in expectation.”
Their anticipation would have been well-founded. Earlier this year, Flip Media won 18 of the 36 UAE Web Awards, the local chapter of the Pan Arab Web Awards, including 8 Golds and the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for ‘Website of the Year’ for the Mercedes-Benz B Class website.
The Pan Arab Web Awards is an annual competition for web and business developers in the Pan Arab region. The awards have the objectives of promoting the spirit of innovation and creativity, raising the standards of web design and websites, advocating growth and development of local talent, promoting intellectual property awareness and encouraging all sectors to become involved in the digital economy.
