MBC2

Turning mega movie watchers into mega movie makers

The Challenge

MBC2 is one of the most popular movie channels in the Middle East. The Senior Marketing Manager for MBC2, Andrew Maskall, put it best when he said that he wants Movies in Motion to be “A toybox for Middle Eastern film lovers.”

With a sponsorship from Nokia N95 demi-directors would be able to make films literally anywhere they see fit. The N95 was a perfect fit for this sight because it allows for roughly two minute films to be captured, which then can be uploaded onto the site and shared with friends.

The site is targeted towards Arabic speakers, but also has an English option, so it really is for anybody who is enthusiastic about movies.

So now that MBC2 has this brilliant idea they need to put it into play. A website! Genius. So naturally they called in the Tarantino of websites, Flip, to get these “Movies in Motion”.

The Solution

With the guidance of MBC2, Flip was able to create a site that would allow for avid movie watchers to be able to register an account, add their own films, view others productions, edit a movie mashup, join groups, chat on discussion boards, and find out about the latest films out all in one place.

The Results

With over 42,500 active users and just about 1,400 groups in a little over a month it’s pretty clear that MBC2’s Movies in Motion has become a blockbuster hit. We at Flip are proud to be part of such a successful site, but it really was a team effort. MBC2 had the lights, Flip had the camera, and the users had the action.
