Water bridge…over water?

The German Vorlageningenieur strike again!

Well it is about time I blog about something different from web and nerdy stuff, well it is still somehow nerdy, but impressive indeed!

Check the image below and you will know what I mean. They have decided to build a water bridge in Germany, which runs over the river Elbe joining formerly known as West & East Germany.

The lengthy bridge (918 meters) took 6 years to complete, with 500 million euros for costs.

The extra trivia bit is, when the bridge was designed, they only taken in consideration the weight of the water, since a ship always displaces an amount of water that matches its weight, so the bridge needed to only withstand its water weight.

Where do they come with such stuff hey?
