Happy 10th anniversary to Lars & Klaus from AME Info. Both of you have built a tremendous strong brand in the Middle Eastern online world and it’s amazing to see what vision it took to go the road from a frozen chicken sales manager via the first AME Info CD-ROM to the #1 business resource online.

Well done - and congratulations from our creative team!

Time for a walk down memory lane. I first met AMEinfo in 1999, when someone called me to sell me some advertising space on their website. I even met them in their old crappy office in the Bu Amim building in Karama.

Their website had not been up long , but at the time, they said “CD-ROMs are dead, the web is the future, and that’s where we’re gonna put our energy.” It was a brave move, and it’s paid off so well for them.

And so, through the years, I worked for numerous agencies - none of which had any real budgets to spend online (until now, that is…), but AMEinfo always did their best to help me spread the Internet to our clients.

It’s been great working with you, and thanks for all the good will, professionalism and dead-end media plans over the years. Mabrouk!

    Hi Yousef

While referring to the “old crappy office in the Bu Amim building in Karama”, are you implying that the office was crappy or the building?

I used to live in that building and i think it was far from crappy…

Back to the topic at hand, I think AMEinfo is great and as a frequent (read “every couple of hours”) visitor, I find it very useful especially in keeping abreast of what is happening in various industry sectors.

Good luck to AMEinfo for the next 10 years…

My passion is obviously my job @ Flip. Trying to balance this by running, mountain + road biking and here and there a game of squash. Favourite destinations: Asia all over the place, and little hide-out in Cyprus and heart beating for Cape Town. Music: Whatever fits on my iPod, and definitly a full collection of U2.
