Festive Celebrations Continue and Flip Bombay rocks as ever!!!
It’s the season for festivals. After our last festive celebration Ganesh Chathurthi, a string of festivals followed it which were, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami followed by Navratri (Dance festival of 9 days), Eid and latest Diwali.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated in India in a mega-scale. And we in Bombay, as usual wanted to celebrate this festive occasion even more pompously.
It started a day earlier, with the team ending their jobs a bit early and came together to finish one task of decorating the office in the best possible way. There were kandils (light shades) hanging everywhere and one BIG kandil hanging at the entrance.
Morning came with Nargis and Gajanan coming early to the office to draw the traditional rangoli, which was just awesome. A good creative surpassing all the creativity!
We started the day with every one of us dressed in our traditional best and very exaggeratedly. The guest room converted to a dressing room for girls, adjusting their sarees, make-ups, with all the boys standing outside, wondering whether it’s a festival or a marriage that’s happening!!!
Finally, when all the dressing was done - with not only the office but everyone. Me announced that its Puja time. Everyone gathered at the small finance cabin and we had the ‘Laxmi Puja’, followed by tikkas with Prasad given to everyone.
Following the puja, was the grand lunch organized by Jasmin, which all of us ate to our heart’s content. Evening came with events organized by Me, Nilesh, Amit & Ganesh. We played housie (Won by Mohamed, Veena, Jyoti & Nargis) followed by Fish Pond (Which is a submission of anonymous messages, Moe getting a “You are sexy” message!!!).
Post the scandalous round of Fish Pond, all of us were entertained to a fantastic performance by Saif and Omkar. We think we got some THE (VERY) FINE people in the running of future rockstars. Good music as well as self-composed songs by Saif.
Last but not the least, the lucky draw session where 37 gifts were got in (all different, which was painstaking to get 37 different but good ones). Chits of 37 Numbers were distributed and people picked up numbers and corresponding prizes. This was fantastic, the excitement & energy levels were to the extreme best with everyone participating including the guest of honor Mohamed.
The bumper prizes were won by Mrudula, Sonali and Jasmin. Me, Sachin Sutar, Janki and Mohamed a bit disappointed by their lady luck.
And the day ended with everyone wishing each other and going for the mini vacation that everyone were looking ahead to ☺.
This was the best Diwali Bash that Flip Bombay has ever witnessed and everyone enjoyed it very much. BUT it wouldn’t have been so successful without EACH AND EVERY FLIPPER in Bombay, participating & putting their in. It was the sheer team spirit that we enjoyed so much.
Three Cheers to Flip Bombay! Hip Hip Hurray!!!

November 28th, 2007 at 2:43 pmDiwali was celebrated with lots of fun and enjoyment at Flip. The whole office was tastefully decorated with lights, flowers and colors. All the team members came in traditional dresses (except few who are going to compensate by giving a treat
). We organized a Diwali special game called Diwali Pataka where everybody had participated and got gifts in a very special way (selected through a lottery). It was a great one. Everybody enjoyed a nice Gujrati lunch. This was my 1st Diwali at Flip and I seriously believe that I get to see and celebrate 10 more Diwali’s here. Thank you…
