Living in Dubai is an adventure of getting to know variety of cultures and in Flip we have good opportunity to experience the cultural sharing in a different level: cinema from different countries.  Maybe not Hollywood blockbusters, but independent low budget films provide some perspective on differences while telling simple stories.  Dubai is not the best place to find that kind of films, but it doesn’t stop us bringing some DVD's from home countries and make screenings with friends.

Last film we have seen in Flip lounge was a locally award winning Turkish movie shot in 2009. Başka Dilde Aşk (Love in Another Language) is a love story between a deaf man (Onur) and a call centre employee (Zeynep); it brings light to their struggles due to communication barrier and obstacles they face within their social network. It is a simple and honest story that we neglect to pay attention.

We don’t know the next film yet, but maybe it will be from Asia or South America, telling a story that not all of us are aware of...
