I have to admit, it was probably the terrible cellular service that helped me fetch the prize. Had it not been so bad, I would never have gone to the TATA DOCOMO's website where I discovered they were running an animation contest to promote Diwali (The Hindu Festival of Lights).

One look at the call to action and my designer instincts (honed by all my hard work at Flip)  kicked in and ideas were floating around my head. The immediate thought that came rushing to my mind was "Lights, decoration and firecrackers." I wanted to create a look and feel where the brand name, TATA DOCOMO, would be directly linked the Diwali traditions.

I lit up the sky with Docomo through animation.

  • Individual alphabets from the word DOCOMO  form a cannon-ball.

          (Alphabets used for cannon-ball were DOCOM)

  • The cannon-ball then shot the remaining alphabet (O) upwards, to create a blast.
  • All the alphabets were then used to show the blast, up in the sky like a series of Fireworks.

I'm very proud that Tata Docomo is using the animation on their website on Diwali. It was quite a surprise and honor to receive the award. Looking forward to doing projects like these for our clients at Flip.
