Delivering a speech at the Click*2008 Digital Marketing Conference in Dubai, Flip Media's CEO Yousef Tuqan Tuqan presented his vision for the next generation of web applications, as well as the future of context in relation to user relationships and online marketing. Delivering his speech on the first morning of the Conference, Tuqan outlined a number of forecasts for the next generation of the Internet, and its implication for marketers in the Middle East. Some highlights from the speech included:
- Everything will be as highly nested as a Russian doll: Borrowing from a quote by Jonathan May, Tuqan explained how Web content is nested within multiple platforms and forms of expressions, and how we as users are nested within communities, spheres and geographical locations.
- Open standards and connectivity: how different platforms (Twitter, Flickr, blogs, Facebook, Google Maps) are all speaking to each other.
- Moving towards the social graph: how we will see an aggregation of so many of our social networks towards one single sign-in where all our relationships and utilities are merged into one space.
- Contextual and collective intelligence: how platforms like DIGG and Amazon deliver relevant content, and how merging this with your social relationships will make this information even more targetted.
- The "information nudists": how users are sharing unprecedented levels of personal data, and the dangers associated with it.
- The next generation of the mobile Internet: how the iPhone changes everything.
