du, the region's largest telecom provider, has been our client for nearly 3 years. As an account manager, working with one of the biggest clients comes with extremely high expectations from everyone at the agency. The expectations got even higher when du wanted a mobile site!

Flip Media Launches du mobile websiteThe du mobile site is a first for any telecommunications company in the UAE. It shows du's commitment to connect with customers by giving mobile phone browsers information on the go.

The process for a mobile site is similar to a full website; it needs information architecture, designs and to be built. A mobile site needs to be a 'lite' version of the full site as mobile users want the most important information as fast as possible. So the information architecutre and design showed the most important content such as plans and store locator for mobile users.

The mobile site has lots of great features such as

  • an automatic user agent to detect mobile phone devices and automatically takes users to the mobile site
  • streamlined navigation to highlight key sections such as products, services, stores locator and contact information
  •  English & Arabic language support and scalable enough to add more languages in the future
  • reads the same content from the full du.ae site so the information doesn't need to added twice
  • banner spaces to be used for offers and advertising
  • and it looks great too :)

I've worked on all kinds of sites from Content management to flash to ecommerce in many languages such as Farsi and French but this was my first mobile site and was a great learning experience.
